Lives under the city even below the undergrounders (people who are unworthy to live on the streets of Talaith are living under the streets of Talaith, since the streets are made of crystal and light breaks through them. )
The temple of the guardians, where Avalon grew up is carved into the stone, and the priestesses of the temple never to leave the mountain. They are taken below the ground right after their birth, and they never leave the temple, so they never see direct sunlight which makes their eyes sensitive to string light.

Avalon was born as the daughter of a priestess of the temple, and she was a base born (bastard in other words).

She is the priestess of crystals, which means she gets her powers from the crystals that surround the temple and grow from the stone below the ground.
